COMMERCIAL VEHICLES ARCHIVE SERIES
This series is produced in conjunction with the British Commercial Vehicle Museum Trust Archives. It is one of the largest industrial archives in the country and has a photographic library of over 250,000 images. These are of Leyland vehicles and those made by associated commercial vehicles companies that comprised the massive Leyland Motors Group, which eventually became British Leyland. The Commercial Vehicles Archive Series of books draws on this photographic library for its material, but also uses other sources, with photographs supplied by contributors abroad, particularly in Australia and New Zealand.
The Commercial Vehicles Archive Series presently consists of books dedicated to the most common types produced by AEC and Leyland through the years. Typically they are 72 pages with informative text, approximately 100 historic photographs and detailed appendices listing the production history of each model. The photographs are carefully selected not only to illustrate the vehicles, but also to show how it was operated and background scenes reflect the many socio-economic changes witnessed in the twentieth century. Later titles in this series include colour photographs and this will remain a feature providing suitable material is available.
One new title in this series is published in autumn every year and eventually other well-known makes of commercial vehicles will be featured.

Those out of print Commercial Vehicles Archive Series titles cannot be re-printed easily because of the demise of the original printing company and loss of the production film plates. However, latest technology is being investigated with a view to hopefully re-producing these titles later in 2006.
