TRANSPORT ARCHIVE SERIES
The Transport Archive Series consists of transport related subjects such as company histories. There is no set format for these titles and the books are produced to do full justice to the material available. Company histories are usually hardback books and again the aim of Gingerfold Publications is to provide top quality with value for money.
The publisher will consider any suitable transport subject, including road, aviation, railways, or marine, for inclusion in this series and if you have an idea or material for a title please contact Graham Edge.

MILLED FROM GOLDEN FIELDS - A Pictorial History Of Flour Millers’ Transport In Great Britain. Written by Graham Edge. Published November 2003.
ISBN 1 902356 11 X.
Drawing on the author’s working experience in this important industry this book traces pictorially the origins of flour millers’ transport from the earliest days and continues the theme until the present. Flour milling is one of the oldest industries known to mankind and flour and its by-products are still vital in providing nutrition as part of a well-balanced diet. British millers produce some four million tonnes of flour annually, and similar quantities of wheat are transported into their mills. Transporting these raw materials and milled flour to customers of all sizes requires a large, efficient, in-house operation supported by haulage contractors.
The book chronicles important developments in the milling industry, such as the introduction of bulk deliveries by tankers. An informative chapter provides historical details of British millers and the growth of famous groups such as Joseph Rank, Rank Hovis, Spillers Milling, Allied Mills, and ADM. Vehicles from present day millers as well as those no longer in business are well represented. Lorries and vans from some fifty millers are shown, covering twenty-seven different marques of vehicles.
Containing 144 pages, there are some 220 photos of which almost 70 are reproduced in colour. With hardback cover and dust jacket. Price £19.50.

WHERE DO YOU WANT THIS LOT?
Written by Bob Rust. Published in March 2007
This is Bob Rust’s story of his working life in road transport that began in the mid 1950s and continued for over forty years. But because Bob was born into a family of transport men his earliest memories of life on the road actually date back to the 1930s.
This amusing and factual account of lorry driving with such firms as Noble’s and BRS makes fascinating reading. Included in the chapters are details about the social fabric of lorry driving and the monumental changes that have occurred during the last fifty years. Bob Rust is a talented writer and author and this book is a definitive record of lorry driving in a past, different era of road transport. It tells it as it was, - ‘warts and all’ – but also conveys the sense of camaraderie that existed then when the job was less pressurised and traffic congestion a rarity.
Where Do You Want This Lot? comprises 176 pages, perfect bound, with suitable illustrations and has a soft back gloss laminate colour cover specially commissioned from Peter J. Davies.
